Addressing barriers in attendance for children/young people with SEND

What is the scope, purpose, its delivery schedule, target audience, and key outcome?

Action set learning - logic approach Multi agency approach from initial workshop launch on 12th June involving a range of education and education linked settings and organisations – participants will be invited to become part of this PD Group to create a sustainable change project

Main focus – 
Understanding barriers to attendance and different perspectives – pupil, family voice, professionals
Upskill colleagues, create resources e.g. an attendance/adaptation checklist to support children/young people in resolving anxiety related attendance challenges – this will be co-created as a multi-agency approach enabling all parties to be working together, creating positive outcomes for children/young people engaging in education and developing resilience; support colleagues in understanding protocols for effective attendance (accurate coding, absence follow up and support)

Outcomes:

  1. Developing school confidence in effective attendance approach
  2. Greater awareness of individual attendance patterns and positive action pathway
  3. Overall reduction in non-attendance of children/young people with SEND

Multi-agency approach to include primary, secondary, Ed Psych, EWOs, parent carer forum et al

  • Session 1: 18th September 3.30-5pm (online)

  • Session 3: 13th November 3.30-5pm (online)
  • Session 4: 9th December 3.30-5pm (online)
  • Session 5: 22nd January 3.30-5pm (online)
