Professional Development Group for school leaders

This professional development group aims to support school improvement in relation to speech, language and communication for learners with SEND. 3 face to face meetings (3 X 1.5 hours) will be underpinned by developing a secure knowledge of the Education Endowment’s Implementation Cycle framework. Participants will identify an area of school improvement related to SLCN and work collaboratively with the group to explore, plan, deliver and evaluate school improvement within their own settings. Experienced facilitators will support participants to identify and refine a focus for their school project before embarking on the delivery phase.

Throughout the process, participants will work alongside facilitators to share expertise around communication as part of a graduated response. The programme will develop the confidence and expertise of leaders to develop high quality provision for SLCN across their schools in order to secure positive outcomes for learners with SEND. We would like to suggest participants attend in pairs so that they can work together on a key project, build a school approach to distributed leadership and secure sustainability of project outcomes e.g. SENCo attending alongside Teaching and Learning Lead.
