With significant SEND reforms on the horizon, schools and colleges are navigating how national change translates into everyday practice. This webinar, hosted by WSS, brings together nasen CEO Annamarie Hassall, MBE, in conversation with a panel of experts from across the sector to explore what the proposed reforms mean in reality for schools and colleges.

The session will begin with a focused overview of the SEND reforms, highlighting the key proposals, the policy intent behind them, and how many settings are already meeting these expectations through strong inclusive practice. This will be followed by a chaired panel discussion, offering practical perspectives from across education, parent and young people’s voices, and the specialist sector, with time for questions from the audience.

Objectives:

The webinar aims to support leaders to feel confident about the direction of travel, reassured about what they are already doing well, and clear about where to focus their leadership as the reforms develop.

Desired outcomes:

By the end of the webinar, participants will:

  • Understand the key elements of the proposed SEND reforms.
  • Recognise how existing inclusive practice in schools and colleges already aligns with the reforms.
  • Engage with sector experts and lived experience voices to explore real‑world questions, challenges and opportunities arising from the SEND reforms.
