Inclusion is important to get right for all children. The increased number of children with more complex needs presents a particular challenge to mainstream schools, elevating the importance of Preparation for Adulthood from the Earliest Years.
Mainstream Senior leaders, Inclusion leads, and SENDCos from Hackney are invited to participate in a Professional Development Group in which they will be supported to explore this theme, including learning to identify SEND strategic objectives and develop an effective development plan. This would be aimed at both Primary and Secondary school leaders, with a particular focus on provision for children with more complex SEND profiles
Dates and times of sessions
- Session 1: Face to face, 10am – 3pm, 05/11/2025, (in-person, venue details will be sent by email)
This will introduce participants to the theme of PfAEY, what it is, and how it fits with Person-centred planning and high-quality adaptive teaching practices. Participants will learn about the PfAEY Review guide, which they will rate themselves against. This will support the school’s Exploration and Planning stages of the change process.
- Session 2: 4-5:30pm, online, 13/01/2026
Workshop / sharing of progress
The delivery stage - a focus on how to support staff, monitor progress, solve problems, and adapt strategies as the approach is used for the first time.
- Session 3: 4-5:30pm, online, 05/02/2026
Sustaining change and evaluation of projects
The sustaining stage - planning to sustain and scale PfAEY interventions from the outset, and continuously acknowledging and nurturing its use.
