This session offers practical tools and psychological insights to help educators support learners who struggle with focus and attention. Participants will explore common challenges, discover structured strategies to improve engagement, and take part in interactive discussions and Q&A. The session provides specialist guidance on creating inclusive learning environments where those with attention needs are well supported. Attendees will leave with practical tools to better understand and support attention-related needs in the classroom.

Meet your trainer
Dr Marie House, Educational Psychologist
I began my career in education as a secondary school teacher before training as an Educational Psychologist over twenty years ago. I’ve spent the majority of my working for Nottinghamshire County Council, where I have had the opportunity to contribute to a wide range of development project. For the last eight years I have been seconded to work a day a week, with a large East Midlands primary multi-academy trust. In addition, I am a tutor on the Doctorate in Applied Educational Psychology professional training programme at the University of Nottingham; supervising research which provides a unique contribute to the fields of education and educational psychology.
My professional interests are wide ranging but a constant throughout my career has been my commitment to promoting and facilitating inclusion, with a focus on the understanding of how children and young people learn, particularly the importance of memory, the role of speech and language and emotional well-being in engagement and supporting learning.
