Specialist Spotlight: Barriers to Attendance Part 2
- Online
- 18 Nov 2026 (15:30 - 16:30)
This two-part CPD will explore both the research evidence and practical approaches to understanding what causes and supports attendance and pupil engagement across all phases. Through presentation, discussion and examples, we will consider the factors that can influence attendance, including individual, family, and school-related barriers.
Participants will reflect on effective strategies for building positive relationships with pupils and families, creating a sense of belonging, and promoting a culture where attendance is everyone's responsibility.
The session will also examine the role of early identification, targeted support, and collaborative working in improving outcomes for learners. Attendees will leave with practical ideas and evidence-informed approaches that can be adapted within their own setting to support improved attendance and sustained engagement in learning.
