Registration for CDC’s Making Participation Work Practitioners' Community of Practice

Sign up is now open for the Making Participation Work Practitioners’ Community of Practice!

As part of the Department for Education funded Making Participation Work programme the Council for Disabled Children’s next  Participation Community of Practice is taking place on Thursday 25th April, bringing together professionals and practitioners who are designing and delivering participation and co-production at a strategic level across children and young people’s health, education, and social care.

This event will focus on sharing our collective experiences of widening participation opportunities to support more diverse and seldom heard voices to be part of our work. We will support each other to explore what more we can do to increase access to opportunities and think about how we utilise targeted engagement methods which facilitate sustainable strategic participation. This will include discussions on:

  • Innovative ways to address barriers to participation and ensure that children and young people with diverse lived experiences are meaningfully engaged.
  • What strategic participation looks like for seldom heard voices, and how we can create opportunities for strategic engagement, and existing initiatives and programmes facilitating this.
  • How to develop our participation work in a sustainable way to ensure children and young people can share their voices in the long-term.

Attendees will hear specific examples from organisations and professionals who are doing great work in this area, and will have the opportunity to share their own expertise and ask questions throughout the event.

Prior to the event, attendees will receive full information on the examples we will be hearing about, as well as some sample questions to aid breakout room conversation. This event will be highly interactive and discussion based.

The conference will be held online via Zoom. The deadline for sign-ups is Friday 17th April.

We are also looking for short presentations for this event on the above theme. If you are interested in taking part, please email a brief outline of your presentation to
